Fabric stores sell stretch panels with an elastic waist that can be sewn in to replace the front of any pair of pants. They are called maternity panels.The panels will stretch as you grow, so your pants will fit throughout your entire pregnancy.

Instructions

• Lay the pants out on a flat surface with the front side up.
• Fold the panel in half from top to bottom, and align the fold with the center seam of the pants. Align the elastic waist of the panel with the waist of the pants. Unfold the panel, keeping the elastic waist along the waist of the pants.
• Trace the edge of the panel onto the pants with a fabric marker.
• Remove the panel and trace a line 1/2 inch inside the first line you traced. This adds a seam allowance.
• Cut the front of the pants out along the inner line.
• Turn the pants inside-out and pin edges of the panel to the cut edges of the pants, with the right sides together.
• Sew the panel in the pants with a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Zigzag or overcast the seam allowance to finish the seam. This will make the seam stronger.
